El Paso, Texas - Efforts to evade authorities by a man accused of sexually assaulting his own daughter came up short Monday when Border Patrol Agents captured the 39-year old Mexican National trying to cross the border illegally in Ysleta.

On September 11, 2018, Agents were on routine patrol when they encountered footprints on the ground east of the Ysleta Port of Entry.  Agents caught up with the group quickly and took them into custody. One of the subjects in the group was identified as Rusbel Zamorano-Calderon, from Mexico.

After his interview with agents, Zamorano was transported to the Ysleta, TX Border Patrol Station for processing.  Zamorano was then fingerprinted, and his biometric information was entered into several immigration and criminal databases.  In a matter of minutes, agents discovered Zamorano had been previously deported and had an outstanding warrant for “Three Counts of Rape” on his own 15-year-old daughter in Tennessee.  There was also a restraining order in place to protect the daughter.

Zamorano will be remanded to the custody of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office pending extradition to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee to face three felony rape charges. Charges and allegations contained in criminal complaints are merely accusations.  Defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty

This most recent arrest serves as another prime example of the importance of maintaining vigilance along our nation’s borders, and the important role that Border Patrol Agents play in helping keep our communities safe.
