Edinburg, Texas - U.S. Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley rescued two illegal aliens attempting to enter the United States.

Yesterday, agents assigned to the McAllen Border Patrol Station provided medical assistance to a Guatemalan national suffering from heat-related symptoms. Upon apprehension, the woman stated that she suffered from asthma. Agents immediately requested medical assistance and the woman was subsequently transported to a local hospital where she was admitted for evaluation and treatment.

Once medically cleared and discharged the woman will be processed accordingly.

Later that day, at the Sarita checkpoint, a Border Patrol K-9 alerted to a tractor/trailer spare tire area. An agent looked underneath the trailer and found a later-identified Guatemalan national hiding inside the spare tire.

The tractor/trailer driver was released due to not having knowledge of the illegal alien riding inside the spare tire compartment.

The Guatemalan national will be processed per CBP guidelines. The Rio Grande Valley Sector currently has multiple campaigns focused on rescues and danger awareness, such as “Operation Big Rig” and “No Se Arriesgue” to combat smuggling and ultimately save lives. Call 911 to report suspicious activity; “They’re humans, not cargo!”
